The COS Autumn/Winter 2022 fashion show took place in one of the largest buildings in the city, the Starrett – Lehigh in Manhattan, New York. Breathtaking views, blue sky and specular reflections from skylines have created a fantastic atmosphere of newness and modernity. The Scandi fashion brand which is famous for its minimalism, utilitarian styling and sustainability has added more flamboyance and contemporary garments to its winter collection.
The collection consisted of 41 meticulously tailored but also affordable and sustainable pieces. A perfectly constructed oversized double-breasted enveloping brown wool coat paired under the coat with a candy pink opensided mohair vest with a high zipped collar as a bright but organic element of the look. A flattering silhouette was created with low-slung wide-leg tailored wool pants. Completing the look was a black moulded bucket hat and shapeless oversize argyle-stitched lilac bag.
The genderless style and neutral palette colours were presented in shirts, pants and jackets. The white boyish oversized shirt was worn on top of a light pink turtleneck top and paired with neutral beige wide stirrup trousers. The male gray herringbone double breasted suit, paired with a slim black tie and a white shirt and black chunky leather derby shoes was on the verge of perfection.
Despite the preponderance of neutral and dark colours, the collection was completed with vivid green, bright orange and purple shades. Long-sleeved gathered jersey midi dresses in purple and neon green were a bright confirmation of this.
Karin Gustafsson, creative director of COS has been in that position since its inception in 2006. A Royal College of Art alumnus, Gustafsson’s vision and creative approach to the minimalistic style stands out in a crowd. Balancing genderless and femininity, neutrals and vibrancy, consistency and surprise, she has made the collection incredibly strong.
The COS Autumn/Winter 2022 collection is already available online and in the brand’s stores.
