Shocking tights, meticulous suits and magnificent coats

The Men’s Fall Winter Fashion Week 2024/25 has not only kicked off the fashion season but has also sent shockwaves through the industry. This season brought forth a daring fusion of styles, featuring black nylon tights paired with mini shorts, swimming pool-like caps accentuating formal suits, Bermuda shorts boldly worn over trousers, elegant gloves, and much more. The collections this year celebrated freedom, defied traditional patterns, and introduced new male fashion trends that are set to reshape men’s style, whether embraced or not.

Here are six standout trends that graced the runways at Men’s Fashion Week:

  1. Puff Daddy Vibes: Long fur-like coats reminiscent of Puff Daddy’s iconic ’90s style took the spotlight at Dolce&Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, MSGM, and Givenchy.

2. Oversized vests with a Twist: Vests with big square pockets made a bold statement, worn either on top of or inside jackets. This trend was flaunted by Sacai, Kenzo, Kolor, and Zegna.

3. Miles-Long Sleeves: The trend of extra-long sleeves, a hit in the women’s collections, made its way into men’s fashion, showcased by JW Anderson, Valentino, Gucci, and Loewe.

3. Miles-Long Sleeves: The trend of extra-long sleeves, a hit in the women’s collections, made its way into men’s fashion, showcased by JW Anderson, Valentino, Gucci, and Loewe.

5. Gloves Galore: Long and short gloves in vibrant hues, creating a striking contrast to the rest of the outfit, were seen at Gucci. Meanwhile, Zegna and Kenzo opted for long, reserved colours matching the tone of their tops.

6. Mini Shorts Mania: Following in the footsteps of Miu Miu’s impact on womenswear, mini shorts made a bold entrance into menswear. JW Anderson paired them with black nylon tights, MSGM’s had a glistening knit, and Dior’s featured an A-line silhouette with a zipper on top, complemented by vibrant socks.

Mini shorts transitioned from controversial women’s trend into a mega-popular garment, seamlessly integrated into everyday looks. It is possible that a similar evolution may occur with men’s mini shorts but it might also be that these items are designed to showcase other garments in the collection and highlight for men  more wearable aspects of the current trends. Maybe it’s time to ditch the old jeans and tracksuit trousers and step into the vibrant picture of a men’s fashion revolution, challenging norms and redefining boundaries. Whether you’re a fashion enthusiast or a curious observer, these trends are bound to leave a lasting impression on the evolving landscape of men’s fashion.
