I’ve tried Balmain Shampoos: Volume & Moisturising | REVIEW

13th, September 2020 by Anna Gooss

The first thing that really surprised and pleased me about Balmain shampoos is the size options. You can try the small travel version that’s 50 ml first and then decide to buy the standard 300ml size or the big 1000ml one. This makes sense when you are not ready to buy the larger size blind and be disappointed.

Balmain Volume Shampoo

This Volume shampoo is described as a lightweight shampoo that gives volume and body to all hair types. A luxury and mild daily shampoo; easily manageable. For shiny and perfectly styled hair.

  • Lightweight volume shampoo
  • Creates full bodied, shiny hair with added volume
  • Daily shampoo

The bottle looks more simple then the special or super stylish bottle that I expected to get but they probably designed it on purpose to make it more recognisable.

This shampoo has a pump, and a nice light scent which reminds me of a luxurious face cream and it’s a nice pearl colour. The shampoo’s texture is very unusual because it is thick and when I applied it to my head it seemed as though I needed more product but this thick substance needs water adding which increases the amount of shampoo on your head. It’s some kind of magic trick.

Texture

With the first application you don’t get as much foam as with the second one so don’t take too much product to the second round because it foams easily with less amount of shampoo.

I didn’t use any conditioner after I’d used the shampoo to show you how it really works.

This is straight after the wash: My hair looks great, I have volume and obvious shine.

Recap:

I think this shampoo is good, it would be excellent with light hair or short hair, or if you washed your hair every day, but it doesn’t deal well with long and heavy hair and an infrequent  wash habit. What I really like is that this Volume shampoo has an insane scent. I don’t colour my hair and after the wash it was as soft and shiny as Balmain promised but it could be because of my hair condition before I think. If you die or colour your hair this effect might not be as obvious as on natural hair.

Balmain Moisturizing Shampoo

This shampoo is described like this: This deeply nourishing shampoo is enriched with pure organic Argan oil and is suitable for both natural and colored hair. The shampoo creates strong, shiny and manageable hair and is intensely nourishing for the hair.

• Perfectly moisturized and nourished hair

• Creates a natural glow and elasticity

• Rejuvenating instant boost

The shampoo has an identical bottle and pump system but the texture and scent is more intense than from Volume shampoo. It reminds me of flowers and a body lotion scent.

The texture is more liquid than the volume shampoo and it’s a light pearl colour.

The surprising thing for me was the amount of product required. I didn’t need a lot of shampoo for my hair. It foamed more easily than the Volume shampoo and washed my hair really well. You don’t feel like you have an oily film on your scalp. It cleans oil and styling products from the roots and length really well.

Texture

And remember that when we wash long hair we only have to put shampoo on the scalp and roots; the length will be washed by the foam.

And the second useful piece of advice for long hair washing is to wash it upside down to reach the back part which is difficult to wash in a vertical position.

After the wash my hair has this amazing scent and my hair is so soft and silky. I let my hair dry by itself as with the previous one.

Recap:

I want to say that this shampoo is ideal for those who wash their hair every day or for those who for some reason need to wash it often after going in the sea, visiting places that smell of smoke or using styling products to refresh their hair. This shampoo is amazing for this reason because it moisturises and doesn’t dry roots which can start to produce more oil afterwards. It feels as if you washed your hair with a foaming conditioner.

But if you wash your hair infrequently and your hair is long, heavy and oily this shampoo is definitely the wrong choice. Because it can’t wash roots as clean as for example the Volume shampoo or shampoos for oily hair which have stronger ingredients for cleaning roots.

I hope that my reviews gave you a clear understanding of what Balmain shampoos offer.
