So far, I’ve found three sunscreens that won’t cause your skin to suffer from comedones, breakouts or oily extraction during its use.
1. The Ordinary
Mineral UV Filter SPF 30 with Antioxidants
This sunscreen is mineral and it is perfect for oily or acne skin. Despite having a white color which is quite obvious on the face, it has a matte effect and a comfortable fresh feeling. You do, however, have to be ready for a strange strong smell that reminds me of the smell of wet soil or fresh yeast for making bread but after a couple of minutes it disappears.
As dermatologists recommended, you should apply sunscreen daily 30 minutes before you leave your home . The amount of the cream has to be not more than a small tablespoon for the whole of your face and neck. And after two hours you have to re-apply it again.
This cream has an oily-grey substance which I find difficult to clean off with water and cleanser, thus I use a cleansing oil (the same brand) to melt it and then a cleansing gel. But don’t worry it doesn’t cause acne or extra oily reactions if you don’t like double step cleansing, just use your cleansing gel twice.
The sunscreen is enough for 3 months and I find that the price and quality are worth it.
2. Kiehl’s
Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA. UVA. Anti-Pollution.
This sunscreen has an amazing texture, nice light scent and neutral color with no white or gray shade.
Another positive thing is that Kiehl’s sunscreen is ideal under foundation and I think it might even be the best because you don’t feel it at all.
Cleaning off this sunscreen is super easy, you don’t need double steps of cleaning and your gel can easily clean it off.
But there are two Cons for me: it’s not water resistant which means that after the sea or swimming pool you have to refresh it on your face , and I find the price is quite high.
3. La Roche Posay
Anthelios Anti-imperfections SPF 50. Corrective gel cream
I’ve tried so many sunscreens by la Roche Posay and have always been disappointed and surprised that such a big brand couldn’t find a recipe that prevents breakouts and oiliness during sunscreen use.But then they launched Anthelios Anti-imperfections SPF 50 Corrective gel cream and it’s really good for acne/oily skin.
It has a pump which lets you get as much cream as you need. The cream has a white color but on your face it disappears or adapts quickly and becomes matte. There’s no smell. You don’t feel the cream on your face at all and moreover it keeps your skin fresh and matte all day. It has Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide to target existing breakouts, and protects skin from post-sun breakouts to encourage clearer, radiant-looking skin.
Cleaning off this cream is also super easy and quickly. The price and quality are well worth it too.
To recap, these are my three best sunscreens which protects from UV/UVA and keep my skin healthy everyday.
