I’ve tried Augustinus Bader creams: The Rich Cream & The Cream | REVIEW

The most popular brand scooping up awards from beauty critics and magazines as revolutionary skincare products

Nowadays it’s difficult to be surprised by face creams. And it’s also difficult and expensive to get adoration from so many people in the World as Augustinus Bader has managed to do. To understand why so many big bloggers have spent their own money on the lavish Augustinus Bader Rich Cream and written odes to the product on their Instagram, I decided to look into the matter more thoroughly and bought The Cream to find out if it’s really that good and worth the price.

The truth about the Augustinus Bader creams

But before plunging into the expensive skin care journey,  I’ve done some research about this brand and it was worth it. The story of AB is really impressive just because of its first mission. Bader was developing a wound gel that heals skin trauma: burns, wounds and other damage, as Bader explained: “The reason we launched the skincare brand was to provide a platform to allow for the continued research and development of treatments that alleviate suffering for those afflicted by severe burns and wounds” . (2008)

Augustine Bader is a real person, moreover he is a professor, biomedical scientist, physician and the director of Cell Techniques and Applied Stem Cell Biology at The University of Leipzig, Germany. They use the TFC8 (Trigger Factor Complex 8) formula which scientists say activates the body’s own stem cells and helps reduce wrinkles, skin tone and redness.

Having combination, but also ageing skin (I’m in my mid-late 30s) I bought The Cream in the  15 ml bottle. Mind you the price range for creams starts from $89 for 15 ml to $224 for 50 ml, but they also have 30ml and auto-replenish options.

The Cream

On the website, The Cream is described as a light, refreshing, deeply hydrating daily moisturiser that supports cellular renewal and dramatically improves the skin’s appearance. It’s powered by TFC8® and is ideal for combination to oily skin types, blemish-prone skin, and refreshing skin in more humid climates.

I bought a 15ml bottle. The packaging is amazing, it is made of thick deep blue glass with a plastic lid and a bronze pump. It’s 10 cm high and 3.5 cm wide, and the bottle is heavy and convenient to use as a travel cream or for the first time. The pump lets you regulate the amount of product, and it doesn’t leave cream around the spout, so that the pump stays clean.

The Cream has a light texture and is barely perceptible but also has a pleasant scent which disappears on your face after you apply it. At the beginning I used 2.5 – 3 drops for all my face (which was not economically rational and needed) and the cream finished after a month. So on my second order I reduced it to 1.5-2 drops and on the website I found out that it is also good to use just one drop (not in my case though, I feel deprived when I use just one drop).

In the first week I didn’t see any changes but with the second bottle my skin has changed a lot, my small fine lines have disappeared and my skin is glowing and well hydrated. I use the cream only in the morning, because in the evening I apply Retinol (by another brand). The next day, after sleeping in the retinol, my skin hungrily absorbs the cream and looks amazing. What I really like is that there are  no greasy effects or oily reactions during the day and my skin texture is amazing. Before using The Cream, the retinol had already improved my skin, but I did have constant small redness caused by the retinol during the day, and this has totally gone.

The Rich Cream

Compared to The Cream, The Rich Cream is ideal for normal to dry skin,  more mature skin types, and colder, drier climates. It includes argan, avocado, and evening primrose oils, so the consistency of the cream is thicker. The scent, package and the price are identical.

The thick texture may confuse you, because it is almost impossible to smear the cream onto your face, like you could do with The Cream. What you need to do is take 1-2 drops of the cream on your arms, spread it on the tips of your fingers and tap your fingers on your face, printing the cream all around your face. I still can’t understand how it works but the cream spreads all over the face by itself and you don’t have empty parts.

The Rich Cream is definitely ideal for dry or normal-dry skin, for oily skin it produces an oily film which you feel and in my case caused small blocked pores. But if you have oily-normal skin or you live in a country with a cold winter, or are going skiing,  The Rich Cream can help you to protect your skin from cold.

Recap:

Augustine Bader is really worth buying skincare products especially for ageing skin or for those who suffer from redness, dryness and texture. If you are ready to use it regularly you can use their auto-replenish option.

As for me I’ll keep using The Cream as my daily cream despite the fact it is much more expensive that I usually buy for my skin but it really works well and helps my skin look better.
